IBM

IBM Design on Medium: Wrote and published original blog posts, as well as worked with designers both within my department and across the enterprise to review, edit, and publish other IBM designers’ original posts. Find a couple of examples of my blog posts for IBM Design:

CIO Magazine: This internal magazine for IBM’s Chief Information Office (CIO) was designed to unite teams, champion accomplishments, and further the CIO’s mission to continuously improve the IBMer experience. For it, I wrote easy-to-digest articles on in-depth projects for a global audience and collaborated with visual designers, stakeholders, and content craft leads on final stories.

Visit Philadelphia

Annual Reports: On this yearly project, I worked with teams across the company to collect and refine content and collaborated with designers to develop clear, effective visuals to communicate the company's annual achievements to stakeholder audiences. Find links to PDFs for 2016-2018:

Dear Colleague: I wrote, edited, and gathered visuals for monthly email updates to stakeholders from the president and CEO and board chairman. Find examples of the monthly updates:

Designing for IBM’s internal digital assistant

The goal: Design an internal, digital IBM colleague that’s experienced, friendly, trustworthy, and approachable.

My input:

  • Helped lay the foundation for increased productivity across the enterprise, working as a lead conversation designer on the early stages of an AI-powered digital assistant that has since been deployed across the global workforce.

  • Provided human-centered “Do this, not that” guidance on tone and style that advocated for employees to help build trust with initial use of the pilot.

  • Collaborated with UX and visual designers, researchers, natural language understanding (NLU) teammates, and developers on conversation design, as well as maintenance processes to preserve consistency for the user.

Visit Philadelphia

Company LinkedIn: Managed account from April 2016 to February 2019.

@visitphilly Instagram: Helped manage user-generated content schedule (selected, captioned and posted images) from April 2014 to May 2016.

Surprise + Delight program: Reached micro-influencers and visitors on multiple social media platforms to improve their visits IRL.

  • In 2015, I took the helm of a surprise-and-delight social media program, where @visitphilly reached influencers and visitors on social media — where they were talking about Philadelphia — to help improve their trips in real life.

Video

IBM

Designed short scripts for CIO TV—a sort of virtual storefront for IBM’s CIO organization—used to communicate useful information to employees in a straightforward way to improve engagement and increase productivity. Created content with focus and intent, collaborating with motion designers, illustrators, stakeholders, and content craft leads on final videos. Find example scripts to see more:

Greensgrow Farms

This video project, which I completed as part of my internship experience at Greensgrow Farms, represents an overview of how Philadelphia's premier urban farm got its start and a picture of where it was during the summer of 2013.

IBM Spark Design Festival

The IBM Spark Design Festival—the company’s first-ever company-wide, global conference for designers—was a multi-day hybrid event featuring peer-reviewed presentations, discussion panels, workshops, lightning talks, posters, and several social activities to engage, empower, and excite designers across IBM and help nurture their professional career growth. During the first year of the festival, I supported company-wide communication efforts, including email and Slack campaigns. Later, I joined the festival’s content and brand leadership committee, continuing to support planning, content design, and communication for the conference attended by thousands of IBM designers.
